Sale of alcohol to teenagers is not uncommon in northern Moravia

(Ostrava, January 26, 2018) At the end of 2017, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority of the Olomouc and Moravian-Silesian Regions carried out an extraordinary inspection aimed at compliance with the Act on the Protection of Public Health from Harmful Effects of Drugs. In 8 inspections, 6 law violations were found when vendors sold alcohol to persons under the age of 18. These were mainly wine shops and large food chain stores.

Unfair commercial practices continue within the sale of used cars

(Prague, January 19, 2018) Also in 2017, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority focussed on compliance with obligations within sale of used cars. In the period from May 22 to October 31, 2017, it carried out 65 inspections in used cars workplaces on the whole territory of the Czech Republic. Obligations still breached in funeral services

(Prague, January 12, 2018) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority regularly monitors compliance with legal obligations in the area of funeral services. Inspection results of the last four years showed that approximately every second workplace breached legal regulations. Most vendors don't inform consumers about the prices of services or products and don't issue confirmation of order acceptance. Plastic bags cannot be offered for free anymore

(Prague, January 2, 2018) As from the New Year’s Day, plastic bags can only be sold, as governed by the amendment of the Act on Packaging. The Czech Republic joins a number of other EU countries that prohibited provision of plastic bags for free based on ecological reasons.
