MIT and CTIA: Offers of energy auctions – a new trick of „junks“

(Prague, May 22, 2018) In recent months, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority has recorded an increased number of submissions regarding energy auctions and similar contracts, based on which a more favourable supplier of electricity or gas should be found. Consumers complain about contractual penalties after they signed an agreement concluded with such an "energy intermediary" and then refused to accept the newly selected energy supplier or wanted to withdraw from the contract.

Alcohol sold to youth also on May 1

(České Budějovice, May 16, 2018) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority of the South Bohemian and Vysočina Regions carried out an extraordinary inspection focused on compliance with the prohibition to sell alcoholic beverages to minors. Alcohol was served to persons under 18 years, so law was breached, within all 3 inspections.

Extraordinary inspection in Jaroměř – 60% vendors breached law

(Hradec Králové, May 15, 2018) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority of the Hradec Králové and Pardubice Regions carried out an extraordinary inspection aiming at shops, services, restaurants, and filling stations in the area of the town of Jaroměř, East Bohemia. It found breaches of law in 13 of 22 inspections. The Act on Consumer Protection was breached most frequently.

Inspections with figurants proved sale of alcohol to minors in 2017

(Prague, May 11, 2018) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority evaluated inspections carried out in the area of alcohol sale in 2017. A fundamental change for inspections on the sale of alcohol was that the new Act on the Protection of Health from the Harmful Effects of Drugs, became effective, allowing the Czech Trade Inspection Authority to carry out inspections with the use of juvenile figurants. Every other inspected funeral services provider breached law

(Prague, May 4, 2018) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority inspected compliance with legal regulations governing funeral services. During 3 months, 115 workplaces were inspected and breaches of the Act on Consumer Protection were detected in almost 50% of cases. „Situation in the field of funeral services didn’t improve when compared with 2016. Still every other inspected workplace didn’t comply with applicable legislation.
