In 2020, CTIA proved frequent sale of alcohol and tobacco to juveniles

Results of inspections on geo-blocking in 2020

(Prague, 22 March 2021) Last year, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority focused on compliance with obligations arising from regulations of the European Parliament and of the Council on unjustified geo-blocking and other forms of discrimination based on nationality, place of residence or place of establishment of customers within the internal market. The CTIA carried out a total of 14 inspections in this area and detected breaches of the Regulation in 3 cases.

CTIA response to current talks on respirators

(Prague, 14 March, 2021) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority responds to various claims about respirators in the media, which can be confusing for consumers. The dramatic reports on the N95 and KN95 respirators, which are spreading in the context of a competitive struggle, are ultimately not only confusing for consumers, but also give the impression that these products are practically ineffective. A functional respirator with filtration of 94% or higher is useful for consumers and performs its purpose when properly deployed.

CTIA: 10 cases of discrimination detected in 2020

(Prague, March 12, 2021) During the last year, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority inspected whether there were any forms of discrimination against consumers on the part of traders. A total of 658 inspections were carried out and there were suspicions of consumer discrimination in 10 cases.

How to choose the right respirator

(Prague, 11 March 2021) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority recommends to read a simple information leaflet with instructions on how to choose the right respirator prepared for consumers by the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing (ÚNMZ).

CTIA prohibited a dangerous hoverboard

In 2020, CTIA notified nine dangerous toys into alert system RAPEX

(Prague, March 4, 2021) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority has monitored the safety of toys for a long time. Last year, it inspected 2,767 toy models and found mostly administrative shortcomings in 979 cases.
