70% of e-shops inspected in 2021 breached law

(Prague, 22 April 2022) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority carried out a total of 1,900 inspections of online shops in 2021. It found violations of law in 1,288 cases, which represented almost 70%. Traders continue to fail to provide complete and comprehensive information about the products they sell and they also use unfair commercial practices.

Discrimination still occurs on the Czech market

(Prague, 14 April 2022) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority regularly inspects whether traders discriminate against consumers. Last year it carried out a total of 861 inspections and found suspicion of some form of discrimination in 6 cases. In 2021, in connection with proven discriminatory behaviour, the CTIA imposed 8 fines of CZK 318,000.

State of emergency in force – even large stores can sell on Easter Monday

(Prague, April 11, 2021) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority is responding to questions from the media, entrepreneurs and consumers and explains that in view of the fact that the state of emergency is in force in the Czech Republic until 31 May, even large stores can sell on Easter Monday, which in other years was not possible due to the Act on Retail and Wholesale Opening Hours. CTIA detected violations of law in 3 of 4 inspections of respirators in the market

(Prague, 8 April 2022) Last year, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (CTIA) carried out inspections focused on personal respiratory protective equipment - filtering respirators. It carried out a total of 1,340 inspections and found violations of legal regulations in 1,005 cases (i.e. 75%). The CTIA imposed 510 fines amounting to CZK 8,311,000 for breaches of legislation. It also issued distribution bans on 972,036 products worth CZK 20,000,825.
