1Q of 2022: CTIA took 2,600 items of counterfeit goods for almost CZK 5 million in the first quarter of this year

(Prague, 24 June 2022) In the first quarter of 2022, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority inspected the supply, sale and storage of counterfeit goods. It carried out a total of 286 inspections and found 82 of them in breach of the ban on offering, selling and storing products infringing certain intellectual property rights. Furthermore, it took 2,600 items of counterfeit goods for CZK 4,912,862 when calculated in the prices of originals. Inspection in eastern Bohemia proved the sale of alcohol to juveniles

(Hradec Králové, 6 June, 2022) The Královéhradecký and Pardubický Inspectorate of the CTIA, based on consumer complaints, carried out 33 inspections of the sale of alcohol and tobacco products to juveniles within an extraordinary action. In more than half of the cases, sellers sold alcohol or tobacco products to minors. The students taking part in the incpestion were 16 years of age.

Almost 80% of inspected e-shops breached law also this year

(Prague, June 3, 2022) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority continued its inspections of e-shops, as e-commerce has become the major platform for consumer shopping. In the first quarter of this year, it carried out 254 inspections and found violations of legal regulations in 196 cases, which represented 77.2% of all inspected e-shops. Most often, traders failed to inform consumers about the possibility to claim products or used misleading commercial practices against them.
