50% less presentation sales events

(Continuous report of the 2nd quarter of 2016)

(Prague, October 21, 2016) In the 2nd quarter of 2016, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority notified only half of organized presentation sales events when compared with the 1st quarter of 2016. However, infringements of law were detected in almost 80% of 102 inspections that were carried out. Organizers most frequently and repeatedly breach law as regards the obligation to report organized events in advance as well as the requirements for invitations to such events. In the evaluated period 36 fines amounting to CZK 6,625,000 were imposed. The highest amount was CZK 2,000,000. “Although we saw a decreasing tendency concerning the number of reported presentation sales events, in the market there are still companies focusing especially on seniors and exercising deceptive conduct which is in contradiction to the law,” said the Director General of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority Mojmír Bezecný.
