(Prague, September 4, 2013) When monitoring electronic products in the retail market, CTIA inspectors detected sale of dangerous electric keyboards SHAN DOU, SD-4901A. “Proportions of the flat electric cord plug don’t comply with the stipulated model and a user can get injured by electric current when plugging it in. Besides the mentioned threat, instructions for safe use in Czech were missing and the product was not properly labelled. Therefore the sale of the keyboards was immediately banned. The product will be notified into the database of dangerous products RAPEX,” explained the Director General of the CTIA Vladimír Velčovský.
The Czech Trade Inspection Authority found out that in the inner market a product posing serious risk of injury by electric current is offered. We speak about the following product:

Keyboards, equipped with two speakers, can be powered either with batteries or directly from electrical network with the help of separable electric cord plug. The product is distributed in a cardboard box.
Manufacturer is unknown. The following text is printed on the product packaging: CE, WARNING: CHOCKING HAZARD. On the product label is stated: Vyrobeno v Cine, Dovozce: HOAVICO s.r.o. ULAZNI 8, PSC 142 00 Praha 4, 8860876551707, A55170-18PCS. HOME SPECIAL – Elektronický klavír, má 54 kláves. The following text is printed on the product: CE, SD 4901A, made in China; in place of the power supply on the product it is stated: AC – 220V. On the electric plug cord it is stated: 6A 250~, and on the cord it is stated: RVVB PVC INSULATED WIRE 300/300V.
Dangers
Proportions of the flat electric cord plug do not comply with the defined model and a user can get injured by electric current when plugging the cord plug in.
The product is not equipped with instructions for safe use in Czech and product marking is noncompliant.
Taken measures
CTIA banned distribution of the above mentioned product and ordered its withdrawal from distribution. Complete documentation was sent to the Ministry of Industry and Trade that will notify the product to the system RAPEX.
