Life jackets must protect users against drowning

(Final report of the project for 2015)

(Prague, June 16, 2016) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority focused on inspections of life jackets and buoyancy aids offered in the market network that are intended as personal protection devices for persons carrying out their work or spare-time activities in water or close to it. These jackets shall provide a reasonable assurance of protection against drowning to the person situated in water. 13 types of personal flotation devices were inspected at 13 entities during the inspection project. Shortcomings concerning information provided by the manufacturer were detected concerning four inspected types and in three cases it was discovered that products are marked with already invalid standard at the date of their production.
