Travel agencies not always honest

(Partial report of the first quarter of 2013)

(Prague, May 7, 2013) The main tourist season has not even started and the Czech Trade Inspection Authority accepts more and more submissions related to tour operators or travel agencies. In the first quarter of 2013, the officers carried out 112 controls and found breaches of obligations in almost 30% of them. “As well as in the last year, the controls carried out in the respective period have shown that tourism services providers breach the information obligations relating to consumers rights, use unfair commercial practices and don’t settle claims of their unsatisfied clients. The results of the inspections carried out in the first quarter of 2013 are better in comparison with the results of 2012, but only the evaluation of the following period will show whether the improvement is permanent,” the Director General of the CTIA Vladimír Velčovský said.
