CTIA seized counterfeit goods for nearly 62 million crowns in 2021

(Prague, 4 March 2022) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority carried out a total of 699 inspections during the past year, aiming at compliance with the ban on the offer, sale and storage of products infringing certain intellectual property rights (Section 8 of Act No. 634/1992 Coll.). Violations of this provision were found in 275 inspections, which was almost 40% of the cases. In 2021, it seized a total of 29,443 counterfeit goods in the value amounting to CZK 61,764,645 as calculated in the prices of originals. In terms of assortment, the most frequent infringements of intellectual property rights occurred in textile products, audio products and toys. As regards the total number of seized products, the most frequently detected counterfeited trademarks were Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Calvin Klein, Adidas or Louis Vuitton.
