Energy auctions are still problematic

(Prague, September 6, 2019) The Czech Trade Inspection Authority continues to inspect the supply and provision of services related to the conclusion of intermediary contracts on energy supplies, often referred to as “energy auctions” by similar sellers or call centre operators. In the second quarter of this year, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority carried out 9 inspections of this type of trade and found violations of law in 8 cases. “The high number of findings confirmed the justification of this inspection action. Traders continue to use deceptive commercial practices by deliberately concealing the essential information that a consumer needs to decide whether or not to purchase the service offered. Given that deficiencies were found in almost 90% of the performed inspections, inspections will be carried out in the upcoming months of 2019,” says the Director of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority Mojmír Bezecný.
